How to Paint an RC Body with Internal Graphics

How to paint with xxx main Racing Internal Graphics

Internal Graphics are stickers printed in reverse that apply to the inside of your RC Car body, before you paint. Watch us hack out an ARRMA Typhon body with Dysfunctional Internal Graphic. These graphics are die-cut and easy to use; simply peel, stick, then spray some paint.

Install Internal Graphics into your RC Car Body

Gently peel each individual piece from the sheet and install within your polycarbonate body. Our graphics are printed on ultra flexible material so they're easy to work with. They're also backed in white so you can paint any color behind and it won't show through.

Internal Graphics are installed. Placement options are endless, so try to think about the paint colors you want to use and how you'll break them up with the graphics.
Dysfunctional Internal Graphic with Grunge technique to separate colors
We did an optional dry-brush, or "Grunge" step by free-handing black acrylic paint with a bristle brush to add depth and make color separation easy. You can suck here and it'll still look good... if you like the look.
Mask off sections of the RC Car body you don't want painted
It's time to mask off the areas where we don't want paint. This sucker will be Tamiya PS-23 Gunmetal at the front and sides, and PS-1 White for the rest of the body. You can use scraps of paper to fill larger areas to save time and masking tape.
Spray using Tamiya PS paint made for Polycarbonate RC Car bodies
Remember to paint light coats. This is extremely important in all Lexan painting projects. Three or four ultra light coats keeps the paint flexible and prevents bleeding around the window masks and graphics. First coat should be the lightest to help seal everything up. A hairdryer in between coats speeds the process.
Remove masks and spray the white Tamiya PS paint
Remove all the masks at the back of the body and spray your PS White in the same way as the Gunmetal; ultra light coats using a hair dryer in between for speed. Paint light and win races! Fact!.. we think.
Remove the protective film from the RC Car body after painting
The super satisfying peel of the protective film. Remember to remove window masks by gently pulling along the mask line to reduce chance of tearing paint. This body came pre-drilled and trimmed, so we're done and ready to mount. You may have to trim along the molded cut-lines and bore some holes in your specific body. Quick, easy, sexy, and sKiBiDi. Awesome!

  • 3 or 4 ultra thin coats of paint rather than 2 thick ones
  • Ensure paint is fully dry before next step; hair dryer helps
